When Homeless Evolution opened its doors at the start of 2025, our mission was clear: to transform lives by providing high-quality supported accommodation in Cardiff to those experiencing homelessness. What we didn’t yet know was just how transformative this first full year would be—not just for the people we support, but for our organisation and the wider community.
Today, as we reflect on a powerful twelve months of growth, challenges, resilience, and success, we’re proud to share the story of how far we’ve come—and where we’re heading next.
The Reality Behind Supported Accommodation in Cardiff
The journey into supported accommodation is rarely straightforward. For many people facing homelessness, daily survival has taken priority for far too long. Rebuilding stability takes time, trust, and the right support system.
In 2025, we navigated the complexities of housing benefit claims, fluctuating motivation levels, and the individual challenges each person brought with them. These hurdles are common in supported accommodation across Cardiff, but what truly defines a service is how we respond—and our team rose to the challenge every time.
Seven Lives, Seven Journeys, Seven Reasons to Keep Going
This year, Homeless Evolution provided accommodation and tailored support to seven individuals experiencing homelessness. Each journey was unique, and each one reminded us why supported accommodation matters so deeply.
Here are some of the standout milestones from 2025:
🌟 1. Securing Permanent Employment
One service user not only stabilised their living situation but went on to secure full-time employment and successfully moved into the Private Rented Sector. Breaking the cycle of homelessness starts with stability—and they achieved exactly that.
🌟 2. A Step Away From Employment
Another came close to landing a full-time role after proactive interviewing and continues to push forward with confidence and ambition.
🌟 3. Nearly Three Months Free From Crack Cocaine
Recovery is never linear, but one individual has made extraordinary progress by abstaining from crack for almost three months—something they once believed was impossible.
🌟 4. Meaningful Engagement With Mental Health Services
Another service user is now actively working with Community Mental Health Teams, rebuilding routines and reconnecting with professional support they had previously felt unable to access.
🌟 5. Medications, Appointments and Stability
Others have gained control over medication management and health appointments, now requiring minimal support as they move toward greater independence.
These are the moments that define why we do what we do.
Looking Ahead: A Second Supported Accommodation Scheme in 2026
Because of the progress we’ve seen—and the demand for high-quality supported accommodation in Cardiff—we are proud to announce that Homeless Evolution will open its second supported accommodation scheme in 2026.
Even more exciting, two of our current service users are preparing to transition into a more independent living environment next year. Our goal remains the same: ensuring that each person is genuinely ready to move into the Private Rented Sector and stay there long-term, breaking the cycle of homelessness that has shaped far too much of their past.
